Cleanup, Craps, Clocks and Confessionals

We're back again with four new ways to make games easier.

Three weeks ago we pushed the /dice and /timer commands.

• /dice can be used to roll dice as you would in DnD or other roleplaying games. You can specify between 1 and 100 dice to be rolled, and dice sided 2 to 1,000. These are generally the amount of dice we thought would be rational to be used.

• /timer create can be used to set an alarm to go off in some amount of time between 30 seconds and 7 days. Once the time has elapsed, a message will be sent pinging the author, notifying that the time has elapsed. You can also set a label for each timer, so you can know what it was supposed to be about. Each person is allowed 10 timers per server.

• /timer manage can be used to see a list of your active timers, with their time remaining, and buttons to cancel each one.

In just three weeks since these commands were released, dice has been used over 1,300 times, rolling 6,800 dice. You've all also created 131 timers. This is a lot for commands we didn't talk about anywhere. Thanks for that!

Today we're launching two more new commands:

• /delete_category. Use the command, select a category, confirm it, and then the category, and all channels in it are deleted. Incredibly simple to use.

  Be careful not to delete something you don't want to, as it's not coming back. Perfect for when you need to clean up an old season, or if you accidentally created 213 one-on-ones.

Finally, the main attraction. One of the most tedious parts of ORGs is creating channels. Obviously we have /alliance, and more recently /one_on_one. Today we're introducing the third in this line:

• /confessional create. This opens a modal where you can select several options for confessional creation.

  First, you can select up to 25 of users and roles to create confessionals for. Each selected user/role will be given Send Messages and Read Messages permission in their created confessional.

  Second, you can select a category to create the confessionals in. Each new channel will inherit permissions from the category, like they do for /alliance and /one_on_one.

  Third, you can provide a format for the names. Each instance of $ will be replaced with the confessional owner's name. This allows for more dynamic names. For example, if you created a confessional for me with the name "private $ confessional" it would be named "private-21ack-confessional". This is useful if you need to make private confessionals, submission channels, diaries, or if you happen to need to bifurcate the timeline.
